Reader’s Stories – How AdSense Ban Almost Distroyed Me

I am running a travel blog. Over the last couple of years, I was able to make 1500 to 2000 usd a month only from AdSense. However, last week without any warning my AdSense account got banned.

I posted almost daily new articles on my blog and was able to gather a large following. I was living my dream; I could travel to all that exotic countries, explore new places and share those stories and photos on my blog and even get paid for that.

Getting banned from AdSense was a real big shock for me. When AdSense suspended my account, I was just in Cambodia on the beach and doing a story about expats escaping the rat race.

My first thought was they must have gotten something wrong, so I tried to appeal their decision banning my account. It took them less than 24 hours to decline my appeal.

I sent AdSense a couple of emails to find out why they suspended my account. I received a reply which did not really make a lot of sense. That email included some URL’s pointing at some AdSense supports sites with some very general content why they could ban you.

I started to get really depressed, I had the feeling I was not in control of that situation anymore. I was even close of buying anti depressed drugs, as the thought of moving back to the UK and working again in some customer service agent job made me feel sick.

Just thinking living again in a country where it’s raining and cold most of the time gave me the power to do whatever it might be necessary to overcome that AdSense ban or find a different way to make money online so I can continue the life style I just love.

Working online seems to be one of the only realistic ways to escape the 9 to 5 prison. Once you make money online you can work any time and any country or place you like. When AdSense banned me from their advertising network, they almost managed to destroy my life.

They real issue is that AdSense is treating their ‘partners’ like s**t. Once you banned you have no rights. You are banned for life from AdSense.

I tried all kind of monetization methods on my blog, such as affiliate marketing, selling my own book, donation button, nothing worked. It was really frustrating.

I did a lot of research online, I came across a book called ‘AdSense Ghost’, it helped to get back on AdSense and start selling again. It was a lot of work to open a new AdSense account. But overcoming that AdSense ban was definitely worth it.

I am able to live the lifestyle I enjoy and visit all those places I fell in love with. No one can just take my freedom away like that. I will always fight to keep my freedom and enjoy a life without being a 9 to 5 slave.
