I’d heard stories about how YouTube can be unfair to creators and ban or disable accounts for no good reason but I never thought it would happen to me.
I had a small gaming channel which I’d been running for just over two years. In that period I’d managed to gain over 5,500 subscribers and I was making some extra pocket money from the YouTube Partner’s program.
In mid-2018 I unexpectedly received an email from Google stating that YouTube suspended my account for violating Google’s terms. I was infuriated but remained calm enough to submit an appeal via the Google Support portal to find out the reason for the suspension.
I was given links to the Google terms and services page to read through which didn’t help.
After continuously pressing the YouTube support team I was eventually told that my account had been flagged for using bots to artificially increase my views and subscriptions. That was not true. I promoted my channel and videos primarily on Facebook so my traffic was 100% organic. Moreover, I didn’t even know what bots were at that time!
I shared all this information and posted a lengthy explanation but my account remained Suspended. I searched through many forums and found out that this is actually a common thing. Another upsetting thing is that if you have multiple channels they can all get disabled too, even if only one channel supposedly violated Google’s terms.
All the time I spent building that channel has gone to waste. I’ve lost a source of income as well as all my subscribers which suck because if I start a new channel I have to build a following from scratch which is completely unfair.
Why YouTube suspended my account for no reason is beyond me and if this continues the platform might fall our of favor with users all together. My advice to you is that if you plan on becoming a creator on YouTube you should have a contingency plan. Try to build a following on Instagram, collect subscriber emails, get supporters on Patreon and other social media sites too otherwise you stand to lose a lot in the situation that YouTube bans your channel.
After Google unfairly disabled my AdSense and YouTube Partnership, I still tried to appeal. Thank god, I was successful, follow the below steps to appeal your YouTube ban as well .
How to appeal your YouTube Suspension
How to Make An Appeal To YouTube If Your Partner Program Has Been Suspended
Having a YouTube Partner Suspended account can be a real headache, especially if you’re not sure what the reason is for the suspension. The fastest way to solve this problem is to appeal to YouTube for your account to be reinstated.
YouTube will let you know that your account has been suspended by sending you a notification of suspension. On this page, you will find a link at the very bottom, which is the link to their Help Center.
Once you click on that link, you will be directed to a page, which basically gives you a list of reasons your account may have been terminated.
Look for the line that starts with ‘If you feel your account has been suspended in error…’ and then click on the anchor text form’ at the end of the statement. This link should direct you to a page with the heading click to access your Google products.
You will be provided with space at the top of the page where you should write the email address that is attached to your YouTube channel. There’s a second line just below it, but on this line, you can add the email address where you want Google to contact you
Finally, at the very bottom of the page, there’s a space where you should write down the reason you believe your account has been suspended in error. If you’re not sure what to write, you can click on the link to their Acceptable Policy Page. On this page, you will find a list of reasons from which you could choose one or two that you believe triggered your account suspension.
Copy the particular line or lines you need and add that to the statement you want to send to Google. Make your statement as genuine and sincere as possible. It doesn’t have to be lengthy, but make sure it has all the details that need to be there.
If you follow these steps carefully, you can expect Google to send you a response at least two days later and inform you that they may have overlooked some things and that your account is good to go.
